About Us
The Coast Guard Historical Society (CGHS) was created by a group of volunteers to educate the public regarding coast guard history. Efforts concentrate on visually impactful displays at historical venues including and other information pieces. Programs include:
- Civil War Reenactments – A period tent is erected that displays Coast Guard participation in the Civil War through a series of displays, manned by volunteers in period uniform
- Articles and Press Releases – The CGHS forwards press releases and articles to major news outlets on dates corresponding with historical events
- Education programs for fund-raising
- Book Sales – Coast Guard history books (some signed by the author) are available on the web site.
- Ship and Shirt Sales – Historical ships on display and shirts are sold at historical venues, and through the web site.
